So I got this noise in the rear of the engine compartment....sound like a exhaust manifold leak. I take it to the dealer and the diesel tech says its the y pipe on the rear of the engine. Then he tells me they gotta remove the cab to make this repair. Has anybody had this done? Ford really didnt think about maintenance on this truck when they put it together.

i know on the 6.0 you can get to the up pipes easy, but the 6.4 takes up alot more room i think

Cab off repairs are the norm for 08-10 Super Duty's. Ford designed this truck so the cab can be removed easily.

yes, its a 6L but same principal...

don't worry about it, the 6.4L was built w/ quick dis-connects for this purpose...and i have had NO ISSUES w/ it being off!!

i had something like that done. the truck started getting loud in the cab,and you could see black soot on the fire wall from under the truck. the dealer said it was the turbo pipe, which is the same as the Y pipe i believe. they removed my transmission instead of the cab. i guess i split the pipe down the seam. its common from what they said. bad casting in a line of 08s according to them. i had my truck back in 2 days. good luck
