My'03 6.0 has 140K on the clock. At 85k, the dealership replaced 6 of the c94 injectors. Other than that just a couple of small problems. At around 128K I started hearing a noise when under heavy power demand, sounded like a power steering pump going bad. I thought it may be the trans pump. In the mean time I started thinking about those 2 c94's that were still in there, and started watching and buying injectors off Ebay. I decided to go ahead and replace all 8, and do a turbo cleaning at the same time. Well befor I did start to change the injectors, I started to town one day, and as I sometimes do, decided to blow the soot out of that big 4" pipe, everything was well. But the next time I drove it, it seemed a little sluggush, and when I stuck my foot in it, it was like throwing out an anchor. The boost was good, I went home and changed the fuel filters& ICP sensor, same thing. I hooked my scan tool up, I got a code P2002(I think), Low Inj Pressure. I made a post here "Low Fuel Pressure", and got a few responces, found out that code was about The HPOP pressure. Then thanks to "BISMIC", I was able to really start studying about what made these 6.0s tick. So i figgured, since I was going to have most of the top part of the engine apart anyhow, why not go ahead and change the HPOP. I got on Ebay, got a set of intake gaskets for $20, and a HPOP for $200, and went to work. While waiting on my Oil pump to ship, I learned about the oil screen below the oil cooler, the screen filters the oil that coes to the HPOP. Well, I pulled the screen, low and behold it was 95% plugged. It looked like the varnish that plugs up a gas filter screen, a light tan in color. So then every thing made sense. Screen plugging up, slowing the flow of oil, noisy pump, and then not enough pressure for the injectors. By the way, the engine was super clean on the inside, no sludge whatsoever. I change oil every 4K. I think what caused the screen to plug was, I had on a couple of occasions used an additive called X1R, supposed to reduce friction, it bonds to metal, so I really think this is what happened. So I put in a new oil screen, HPOP, 8 new C95 injectors,a new ICP Sensor and a new IPR valve, all bought from Ebay and did a turbo cleaning. Got it all back together, got it running, and no power. This time NO Boost. It was like there was a big fat rag stuck in the exaust. And again thanks to the great people that are so helpful on this web site, I found the problem, there was a leak where the EGR tube joined the Y pipe, got that fixed, and runs great, no more pump noise. And lots of power. When I was at my dealership asking for a few tips from the mechanic, one of them snikkered and asked if I was a diesel mechanic. I told him I was pretty good on Gassers, he replied "these thing ain't gassers". I don't know what it would have cost me if the dealership had done all this. 5-6K guessing. But it cost me about $1500. Pretty good HUH. Again , thanks to all who helped. You guys are great
