the safest and most powerful chips?

I have a 03 7.3 stroke. I am close to purchasing a chip...
I tow very rarely and mostly just want something for speed or drag racing.

Not sure which route to take? Buy a custom burned chip that is changeable on the fly like DPtuner or buy a chip from a major manufacturer like Banks, Bullydog, or Edge, ect. Which one would be safer for the motor.

The most horsepower I have seen with these big manufacturers is maybe 120HP that is switchable on the fly. I talked to the guy from DPtuner and he can get me a 140HP extreme. Now is that safe?? I don't know, I would only put it on that setting for a a short period of time.

He quoted me a price on the setup I want. I would probably get a hi idle setting put on all of these minus the valet and No start

*60HP tow
*80HP economy
*140 extreme
I think he quoted me something around $400 to $420 for that...give or take.

So would it be safer to go with a big brand or with a custom tune. I am on a budget so there is no way possible I can spend $2,000 to $3,000 for a performance package from a major brand.

With my research up until this point I have found these prices.

still in the process of deciding on what gauges I want.
thinking about the Quadizzila Commander Monitor, not sure though.

Jody Tipton at DP-Tuner is way better than any other option you have listed. His tunes are safe and will be extremely driveable. Don't waste your time and money with the other programers you listed, you won't regret the chip from DP Tuner

I doubt you'll get the 140hp gain with a stock fuel system and HPOP. You'll prolly set the SES light from running out of ICP. I know I could with my extreme program on my DI chip before the Stealth pump.

I haven't gotten my DP Tuner chip back yet but from all the testimonies I'm sure I'll be happy! Jody's programs are WAY better than the others you stated.

BTW..I've run Edge Evolution, TS chip, DI chip and now waiting on Jody's Big Oil burns.

What kind of power do you think I will see on a stock fuel system?

HP? Every truck is different. The dead-end stock fuel system on my truck would drop 5-10PSI when running through the gears hard on hotter programs.

I made 310hp with Jodys 140hp extreme program with the mods in my sig. I think around 190hp is stock rear wheel hp, so thats close to the 140 number. The dyno operator said I was running out of fuel toward the top end. I think I made around 285hp on the 80hp setting and that was with almost no smoke. I've run whole tanks of fuel though mine and never switched it off the extreme setting. I have never set the ses lite with mine. Its your choice but Jody does know his tunes.
