The Not So Good, The Bad and The Ugly......

We have really nice gravel crossings in our creeks at the ranch and my son decides to see how far that gravel extends upstream in one of them. Yea, Live and Learn. FWIW, when he did it the water covered the bottom about 6."

Stuck

I knew better than to do it but I tried to pull him out and got high centered.

Plan A

Got a tractor in to pull me out and my truck was free. Put my son to work clearing dirt so I could open my door.

Plan B

After pulling me out we hooked the tractor up to my sons truck.

Plan C

Going Down............
IMG-8920.jpg

Gave up on the tractor and went back to my sons truck. The Harbor Freight winch couldn't pull the truck free of the mud and he didn't want to bury the truck trying to pull with it.

Plan D

Next idea was to pull from high ground which resulted in progress but did not free the truck completely.

I don't see how people sink stuff so bad, like the tractor fir example. If it ain't pulling, quit spinning/digging. Lol

Hopefully, there is no next time, but if there is, dig a hole if possible to the tires and under the truck. Doesn't have to be wide, you just need enough to break the suction created by the mud. Sounds kinda crazy but its worked for me several times.
