If it's a Diesel they won't look at the exhaust system at least on our truck.

Safety wise they check the brakes, lights, horn, window film, windshield and wipers otherwise it's a snap to roll thru unless you drag in a bucket then they'll put it under the scope abit more:D

Ohhhhh jeez... I didnt even think about window tint..... I got the truck in AZ and its got Window tint.... and I have no idea to what % , I just know its pretty dark, can the rear window be as dark as you want, or I should say can all the rear windows be as dark as you want? that would be rear+quarter (supercab) be as dark as you want? What % tint is acceptable in TX on the driver and passenger door windows?

For Texas you're permitted up to 25% on the front doors any % film behind the driver and down to 5" or the AS-1 line on the windshield.

Arizona allows up to 33% on the front doors so Texas laws gets ya abit darker:sweet

There should be a sticker under the hood that will show if it did or did not have a cat. Though they likely will not look for it or the cat, that ARE supposed to. You are not, under penalty of federal law, allowed to remove it regardless of what anyone tells you. I have also heard very little improvement in removing them supposedly.
As far as the window tint I know that the law states no darker than 35% on front two windows, but it is not listed as an inspection item on the following list from Texas DPS.

Here's what's inspected by vehicle type.
