TEMPS?

with approx 80 degree weather...what do you guys think is about average to low average engine and tranny temps... not towing.. just in pretty much, stop & go or med-heavy to heavy traffic... ANy IdeAS?

empty/non-towing even in heavy
summer (houston) traffic ive never
gone over 165* (trans temp).

i dont recall coolant temps, <sorry, pulled
a roger clemens...mis-remembered> ;)

id have to connect my autoenginuity software
to be certain of the coolant temps.

I think your engine coolant temps should be at or very near to what your thermostat runs at. If its below that then the thermostat should close keeping the coolant from returning to the radiator.

Your tranny should run about 150 in an unloaded state.

engine temp should be around 190F,give or take a bit, depending on what you are doing....my trans seems to run about 150F, but temps here are around 0C(32F)....i have seen as high as 220F on my engine temps, but that is with my plow on....hope this helps some

Wow...wierd... i do a lot of heavy stop and go and slow traffic out here in LA, CA - go figure - but my tranny is typically about 165 and motor temp between 185 & 210 when its 85F outside. I guess I'm running hot? :dunno
Any suggestions to knock dwn the temps. My EGT's are low end 395 (idle) to 1050 (on teh gas HARD - accellerating) average 705 or so....:confused:

Diesel engines like to run warm, if not a bit hot. Many change the thermostats to 203 degrees to keep them warm. DO NOT REDUCE YOUR ENGINE TEMPS.

Those numbers are all right on the mark. You dont have anything to worry about.:sweet
