Question TBC Fault @ 37k miles...wtf

so I get this TCB fault while NOT towing anything @ 37k miles. warranty is up of course and I DO tow a few times a month. So I take it in and pay the $90 to check it out and the dealer says its the controller itself. Needs to be replaced and itll be $400!



Has anyone called Ford and gotten something fixed when you are just out of warranty?

Ford has a 5 year and 100,000 mile on power train and drive line. This includes anything do do with Emissions. Are you sure your warranty is up?

its 3yr/36k on drivetrain/chassis and 5yr/100k on the motor....as far as I know?

Ford extended the bumper to bumper coverage from 3/36,000 to 5/60,000. I know this because I had a rear caliper that was hung and tore up my rotors at 40,000. When I called they informed me my bumper to bumper had been extended to 60,000.

even if I didnt buy an ext warranty? I bought the truck new in October 2006. why would the dealer say otherwise?

I didn't buy an extended warranty either. Like I said I was calling for parts because I knew I was beyond the 36,000 miles. None of the parts stores had the parts so I called the dealer. When I talked to the guy at the parts counter he told me he thought my bumper to bumper had been extended. He asked for my vin and low and behold it was 60,000 now vice 36,000. Of course I am beyond the 60,000 miles now as well with 85,000 miles on my 06.
