We've always ran Interstate Batteries. I think they are excellent batteries. Does anyone else on here agree? What else are good for these Powerstrokes?

cant find a volt count here in SSD, but to me that seems low. both front and back side of the gpr. I would say there must be a bad/short connection along the way. :dunno fill us in with what happens man we/I am alway trying to learn and help those along the way.

Can someone post some numbers for me? Maybe someone in cold weather that has no problem starting their PSD. I'm looking for the voltage reading at the glow plug relay with the key on (engine off) to each of the big terminals. I'm thinking the numbers I'm getting are a little low. Thanks for the help.

I'll check mine when I get home, I was thinking they were a bit low but not if the truck is running with 8 glow plugs running.

I notice that Stancor is dropping .25v less than the factory unit..
that's a right handy piece of information..

Does anyone know how to post these two write-ups in a common, easy to find area for all to see? I think it would help many folks when they are trouble-shooting the glow plug system of their trucks.

I'm not sure about the first truck listed, but the second truck has the Stancor 586-902 Contactor/GPR and two know good batteries at 1000 cranking amps each.

I've been meaning to write up a Glow plug and GPR diagnosis sticky to put in the forums for the 7.3L trucks

Oh and I do have the stancor GPR about 3 years old now and 2 good batteries but I think I am beginning to get some corrosion resistance in my battery cables.

You can post that up in the WIKI section here. See the Top Blue line for the Technical Articles WIKI.
