TailGate Striker Bolts

HELP. My truck bed sides have been spread apart by a Large Bale of hay.
Now my tailgate now does not come close to hitting the striker bolts,
I have tried to pull bed sides together, didn't work, Is there an aftermarket company that manufactures longer tail gate striker bolts??

I don't know of any longer bolts that would work, someone may know of some.
Why not use a come-a-long strap in the lower part of the bed and one at the
top of the bed to pull it together. It may take 2 or 3 of them to get the bed
back inline.

Or you could get two cummins and have them pull your sides back in.... might take'm a while but I'm sure they can get the job done.... eventually....

I tried pulling bed sides in with winching straps, it did close up enough to close gate, went alittle farther to make up for bed sides bending, let it sit for over 24 hours, bed sides went right back to way to wide for tailgate to close when i took off straps, actually denting lower bed corners in the
process.

I would think that a longer bolt wound not fix the problem. If the bed sides are pushed out, the striker bolts are probably not perpendicular to the tailgate and won't latch. You could possibly find some carridge bolts that are the same diameter as the striker bolts and make your own.

Your bed floor is bent, until thats fix your just going to have the same problem.

Yep we have many a truck over the years that have had a round bale spread the sides. Box is toast. Sure you can rig something up but basically the box Is shot. Good time for a used flat deck??? My 84 pass. Side box side is held on only by the headache rack bolted to it. The floor is actually cracked off now. Itd fly away in the wind without the rack. I'm sure a body shop can remedy this but the cost would deter me. Each to their own but I'd toss the box... Just my personal take on it

I just always use a trailer for the Large Bales of hay.
They will do it almost all the time.
Good luck finding a good used bed.

Guy did not tell us it was an oversized bale, $30.00 bale for all this crap, Great...

Ahhh that really sucks. What if you put a piece of wood along the whole length of the box, right on the top edge, maybe a towel behind it or something, then push gently with the your loader or something? I agree with the others getting the box sides back into place is the best way to go.
