Plug your rca's from your 4 channel into your bass amp with your subs hooked up to the big amp. That will tell you if you have a set of bad rca's on the deck itself..

a good tip, but we've already eliminated the signal cables....

he's completely disconnected the rca signal lines from the amp
and still gets the "short" (subwoofer sucking in).

Well, I figured it out. Bad sub channel on that amp. I simply hooded the subs to one of the other 4 channels and it works. Not a lot of power, but it works. I cant believe that I had two bad amps in a row....I just wouldnt think thatd be it, but oh well. Im happy now. I just need to go buy a new amp!

Thanks so much for all the help! Cant belive it was as simple as that. :sweet

Yeah, his was bad too! Turns out that it was from a guy that he works with. The guy doesnt use it anymore and it was sitting in his garage for a while...so he gave it to my buddy to use. He hadnt installed it yet and let me try it out. I think the thing is fried, but the 4 channels still work. The sub channel is grounding out, and when you hook just the power and the remote turn on wire up the light comes on, no ground to the body! I have a feeling those 4 channels that do work, arent going to work very long.

I have a customer of mine that sells stereo equipment so I can get hooked up on a pretty good deal with pretty much anything, though he has a new line that he picked up that he said I should try....ever heard of powerbassusa.com? I can get a smokin deal on their 1500.1 D class amp.

never heard of powerbassusa but at 1st glance
at the specs on the 1500 id say theyre gonna
be DIRTY/NOISY w/ a THD of .5% !

As a comparison JL slash series is rated at .05%,
JL Amps are class D as well.
