its a little different for the 7.3L (4r100) vs. the 6.0L (5r110 - torqshift)....
youll need about 22quarts of MERCON SP...dont confuse the SP
w/ generic MERCON or MERCON V...its NOT the same.

dealers have the SP for about 5.19 per quart (used to be 8.20 per)...
i found the mercon SP for 3.18 per quart at a local autoparts.

the PAN holds 7 quarts...the pan gets drained & re-filled 1st...then you
pump the rest out (by taking the line @ the inline filter off)...
heres the directions i used ALONG w/ some photos -->

Thanks guys... Bush, your article was the one I remembered... I found a web site Ford OEM parts, Motorcraft, Ford Motorsports, S&B Filters, and stainless steel license plate tags that sells the fluid for 3.86 a quart.
6.0 Power Stroke diesel filters

I can't find the fluid anywhere else around here. I've hit walmart, ford, napa, autozone, advanced auto, pep boys, API (a local) ... It's really pissing me off that no one other than the dealership has the stuff. Dealer wants 5.19 a quart. Just really irks me..

Unless, um, you'd like to ship me some? :dunno

thing you have to keep in mind is the SHIPPING cost when you look
at that pricing from K-MAN...and he can only ship 20 quarts.

I got the Mecon SP from A-Line Auto Parts

if you can find it cheap & I can ship it to you ill be happy to do that.

I'm up in Pittsburgh PA...

Even with shipping it's still cheaper than buying it at the store when you figure local taxes on it. I'd rather reward someone for not being greedy, pay UPS to do what they do best, and break even, than feed the greed.
