Hi all just wanted to say hi. I am from Albuquerque NM, and I have been strokeing for a while now. All my friends have 7.3's. The only way to go. I have a 2002 F-250 4x4 Lariat 7.3 crew cab, Bullydog chip, 4 inch exhaust, K&N air flow, And a brand new transmission from the Ford dealer. mine just burned up. I installed a Sonnax shift kit. Gauges, new Michelin LTX A/S tires, Ranchero Shocks and I pull a 9500 lb
5th wheel. Truck is HOT!!!!!!!: So can anybody tell me why I dont get very good mileage. My buddy has a power stroke the same year and pulls a fifth wheel just as heavy and he doesn't have the exhaust nor the air flow system???? thumbs :thumbs

Welcome ljmoya. Sounds like a great truck. Many factors effect mileage, like your foot.

Dave :)

There's also a few people who fudge the numbers and or use the overhead console for their mileage. The overhead is known around here as the lieo-meter. First off what are your numbers, and we'll go from there.

I have stock size tires LT265 R75. I was towing at 75 HP but I now found out that if I tow anything heavier then 7500 lbs I should tow at 50 hp. I
runthe chip at 50 hp's around town. I traveled around 93 miles and 85% of those miles were highway miles. I got 11.9 miles per gallon. I take the mileage and dividethat number by the amount of gallons it takes to top of the tank. I also added a True Cooler to the tranny last week to keep the tranny cooler. When I am pulling my 5th wheel I always go with our friends and he has his program set a 75 HP's at an average of 70MPH. we just set the cruise control on. I consider my self a light foot. I can't aford to be hot rodding with the price of deisel. I was getting much better mileage I haven't made any other mods. I did install a set of glow plugs about 6 months ago. The truck in the picture looks like mine with the exception of my front grill. I know that the grill I have has some air restrictions but I have had that grill on for over a year. I am removing my grill when I tow thats for sure I dont need to burn up another tranny.
