Red stuff? :dunno Coolant is green, oil is amber to black. Are we talking about ATF or blood?

the days of color coded fluids are long gone.......coolant comes in any color you can think of, as does just about all the other fluids. the only thing that remains the same (with diesels) is the black engine oil. all i need now is to find some clear washer fluid so it stops tinting my white paint.

is the fuel actively leaking? or could it just be residual from the work previously performed/an aggressive fuel filter change that was being carried from the coolant?

I flushed the valley with simple green and water so yes it is fresh. Valley was dry for a month or two but now there is a little puddle under the filter bowl. Sniff and taste test identified it as Diesel.

if you haven't already changed out your thermostat, mine was just leaking from there last week and it turned out that when i put the housing back on after installing the water pump, i overtightened the bolts and warped the bottom of the housing a little bit. hit 'em back out with a hammer and all is good.

This leak is about to get the best of me. No matter what I do to the housing it will not quit leaking :rant Just ordered a new one from Wabash since my local dealer did not have one  Dang thing looks like new but it will not seal up. Did you bend the bolt holes up a little so the housing will drop down a little more?

Well the thermostat housing finally came in and yea-haw the leak has stopped. The new housing didn't look any better than the old one but there is no leak with the new one so it must have been something with the housing.

Now I have to figure out the fuel leak and she will be puddle free again. I am guessing a loose fuel line under the housing but we will see. Worst case scenario is a new fuel pump.

I hate leaks :rant

Fuel pump it is :rant

I did a search and it seems that these fuel pumps are getting to be a normal failure. I also found that many fellas are thinking it is due to the new low sulfur fuel. Anything we can add to the tank to save the pump? I add Howe's and have been for a while so I guess it didn't do the trick.
