Well I finnally did it and took my cat off. The drone pulling my trailer that weights 12-14k is just about unbearable when it down shifts 1 or 2 gears. It also doesn't have that turbo whistle that I thought it would. At an idle it sounds like my 01 did on a cold morning with the back pressure valve closed. Its more of a loud hissing than a whistle. It even sounds restricted when you accelerate. I've had bad mileage issues and was wondering if my 06 has an exhaust back pressure valve that is stuck shut??

I found the EBP switch and disconected the wires from it. Started it up and my hissing at an idle is gone and I can hear the turbo now instead of a whooshing when you step on it. Can I leave the wires off the EBP switch without any ill effects, or do you have to have it working right? We are going racing this weekend and will be putting on 300 miles pulling two trucks on my trailer so any feedback would help. My boost still won't go over 24 and usually is 20-22lbs wot.

does it throw a code with it unplugged? your boost numbers`s does seem a little low, considering you have a prgrammer.

It didn't throw a code the first test ride but now I have ck eng light on. I took my 6 inch exhaust tip off and my drone went away too. I haven't been running my programer since its locked up, but thats another story.

f100cleveland, how did your experiment turn out? What did you end up doing? I have straight-piped after the CAT, thinking about losing it. I have an '04 6.0.

Thx~ Ken

I left the back pressure sensor unpluged and had more boost while pulling and did pick up about 1 mpg but it didn't seem right so I pluged it back in. I got an economy and a couple of towing tunes from Jody at DP tuner and put my cat back on cuz he said I would get better mileage with it on. On our next outing to a different track I got just about 3 more mpg on a 400 plus mile trip. My empty truck mileage still sucks tho.

What kind of milage are you getting empty?
I get about 14.5-15, and want to improve it, but I want to know where my mods will take me before I invest the $$$.

I have not done exhaust/intake yet. Looking for the best solution. Thanks for all of your input!

I took mine to the dealer for the mileage issue and they hooked it up to their scan tool and went out for a test ride and got 14.1 at a steady 65mph. When I average out a tank its usually 11.5-13. Now that I've started using Jodys tunes I have almost hit 10 towing but really haven't had much time to check out the economy tune yet.
