With the winter storm having such a huge effect across a huge part of the country, I thought a thread about any storm experiences would be appropriate.

Last night I made sure my cell phone was on the nightstand in case Mrs TG had trouble getting home from work in the morning. Evidently that was a good call.

She got stuck coming into our subdivision and couldn't make it up the hill to get home. I jumped into 'da beast' and went to her rescue. It didn't look that bad, but the snow was a very fine, sugary like consistancy that offered no traction. After I tried 3 or 4 times to drive the car up the hill, a county plow was going down the main road and saw our predicament. So he stopped, backed up and pulled into our subdivision.

He plowed a path all the way to the house so my honey could get home.


On a less happy note, the fan blower in 'da beast' wasn't working. I hate having to fix crap in the winter in the driveway!!

They just said on CNN, the roof of the Metro Dome in Minneapolis just collapsed. The Giants and Vikings were supposed to play today, but it got switched to Monday night because the Giants got stuck in Kansas City.

The Vikings let the air out to give Brett more time to re-coop the bad shoulder. The storm was a great excuse. BTW, I like watching Brett play, I'm not a hater.

I just watched that vid on yahoo of the dome collapsing. That was crazy. The only story I have so far was before I bought my diesel. When I was drivin my 1984 Ford Pathfinder Quadravan 4x4 as my daily driver. I had my trailer on the back with my Kawi bruteforce on the back with a snow plow. Headin out to my uncles to plow their driveway. They live out in the bottoms by the river and I had no idea when it snows out there the roads are very bad. It was blizzard conditions. I turned onto the dirtroad and omg never seen the roads blown over so bad. Over 3 ft of snow and higher in some places. The drifts were almost 6ft high. The 460 was doin overtime with it pretty much pegged and bouncing all over the road. I made it almost a mile but couldnt get any further. I unloaded my atv but just couldnt keep up with the snow. It was blowin in faster than i could move it. I went to a house and borrowed a snow shovel and started shoveling in front of my van. Finally got it unstuck after a few hrs. I was able to get it turned around. But no way i could get back out the way i came unless a miracle happened. Luckily there was a road grader down the road and I just waited till he came up my way. Finally out and after 10gallons of gas used up idling, was headin home. Very scary. It was so cold and windy. Luckily my heater worked good. You dont know how serious it can be till you are actually stuck in it. I love bad weather but thats one storm I wouldnt want to be in ever again.

I was going to seven devils NC. last year for X-Mass. Stopped in a small town about 2 hours out for the night. There was a bad winter storm coming in and did not want to get stuck in it after dark. I got up the next day to 2 plus feet on the road. Not one plow was out till after 8am. Not me put the truck in 4 high and took off. After I got on top of the snow it was good but what a pain in the butt till then. I 40 was shut down till cleared so I took back roads. That was a crazy X-mass.

Eighteen degrees forecast tonight for my little corner of the Florida panhandle. With the wind chill it will be in the single digits.

It makes me want to go to a tropical island with semi-naked native girls, but I think my wife would frown on that, no matter how cold it gets.
