Steering Wheel Controls

Hey Fellas,

What year did Ford start putting radio controls on the steering wheel? I've got a project I am starting and just wondering the range of years I can pull from.

I think is was 2005, but I am not 100% positive.

I think you are right on the 2005, Stephen. Sis has a 2004 F-250 Harley-Davidson with all the bells and whistles. But no steering wheel controls. She saw them on my 2005 F-250 Lariat and immediately lusted after them.

the excursions had steering wheel controls (pre-2004)

heres a photo of one....notice the steering wheel (color
matched to the dash...i believe all steering wheels were
black beginning in 05).

the dash in the photo is a 2004 or earlier.

this guys signature says 2002...

I will canibilize a wrecked excursion or super duty and use the wheel for my radio Haha ha ha!

man good luck w/ that...its not a matter of a simple wire...its
more a "network" (single or FEW) wires...and youre gonna
have to get power to the buttons TOO.

this might HELP you w/ the oe wiring...
