I have a really strange optioned 2003 King Ranch. Single CD and no steering wheel audio controls. I want to change out the single cd to either a 6cd with mp3 or go to a aftermarket radio and add steering wheel control. Is this possible to change? Are all the wiring harness's the same?

You might check with Crutchfield.com They have a good website and can answer your question with a phone call.

If I am not mistaken, the radio controls on the steering wheel were not available until the 2005 models.

I have seen a radio that will play MP3's and has a 6 disc in dash player from out of an Explorer, Escape installed in a Super Duty that just plugged right in.

On preset buttons 3 & 4, it will say FOLDERS. That is for the MP3.

Stephen, you're right, Redundant steering wheel controls first became an option in 2005, with the Lariats. I think to add it to a 2003 you would have quite a bit of work to do. I highly doubt the wiring is in place in the steering column.

I figured it would probably be a pain in the butt. I had thought about changing to the Ford 6 disc, with mp3 in mine. Thanks guys!

I believe the original poster was referring to Super Duty's. We know you Excursion guy's got the toys first, don't rub it in.:tounge

I understand that, but it shouldn't be hard to get the parts from an Excursion and make it work for his Super Duty.:sweet
