I just bought the 96 in my sig and its hard starting, I think its slow starting, my best guess is 200-300 rpm. I'm also not sure the gp's are on long enough, I would gues 5-10 sec on first start this morning? The seller told me he has recently replaced the starter and the gp's. I just had the batteries checked and they both pulled 1000s amps and while cranking the volts pulled down to 11.75v The po sounded like the truck has been hard starting since new, he said he plugged it in under 50 degrees.

Also the "water in fuel" light is on all the time. I think I tried draining it, the yellow tab gets turned clockwise 1/4 turn, correct? Nothing comes out.

Also the water temp gauge doesn't work?

Thanks for any help, Allen

you may want to try replacing the glow plug relay to help with the cold starts.

you're right about the fuel drain, but try loosening the fuel bowl lid to let some air in then turning the yellow lever. there is a tube that goes down to the front of the block which could also be blocked if nothing is coming out.

there is a wire that connects to the sender on top of the water pump which may be disconnected to cause the water temp gauge to not work

I tried loosening the lid, i can't find the tube except for the first 6". When I loosened the lid all I get are a couple drips were the tube connects to the filter housing into the valley. Is the sender by the radiator hose neck, its connected?

I pulled the hose off the drain and got it to drain. I had the starter checked and there telling me the armature is bad.

is it still hard starting? check the valve cover gasket harnesses for burnt pins and test the glow plug relay. to test the relay i believe you can use a screwdriver to arc across the 2 terminals to turn it on for a minute then try starting it. also if the starter wasn't new as you were told i would be checking glow plugs as well if you find nothing wrong with the glow plug relay and the harnesses.
