I have a 95 psd that runs fine when you first start it but after about fifteen seconds its starts running rough and then it goes back to normal, if its cold it dies and you have to start it a few times before it goes away. It doesnt matter if its first thing in the morning or after driving several hours or what temp it is outside it always does it after being started. There are no problems after it gets past the missing it will run all day plenty of power. This has been going on for three weeks now and it is getting worse, Any ideas?

Are there any fuel leaks that you can see, like in the valley of the motor or on the ground under it?

I have checked the fuel lines front to back and I cant find any leaks also checked on the engine. It only does it for about 10 sec then smooths out and runs fine it wont last long enough to trace down. Is there a way to check computer codes without a code reader I tried the st1 to signal but it didnt blink the check engine light.

Is the CEL on? If there are codes in memory auto zone can pull them, I think it's free. Is the WTS light still working?Have you tried leaving the key on a bit longer before you start it?

Wonder if the high pressure oil is draining back and starving the injectors for oil pressure, IIRC the 97's were the only one that have a check valve that keeps this from happening, Wonder if when you shut it off the resivoir in the front of the high pressure pump is draining back to the pan and not having oil readily available when you start up until the lube oil pump gets the resivoir filled back up. Just a thought but what do I know?

Can you just look in the res before you start it & again after to see what the level is?

Autozone and Advance auto both said they could not pull the codes from a 95 PSD guess they didnt want to mess with it. Problem is getting worse it started missing while I was on the way home tonight. All gauges are working while its happening even the tac stays steady. Looks like I will have to buy a code reader before it gets worse any suggestion on brands of code readers?

Sounds electrical, take a look at the IPR connection for chaffed wires or the little tin nut could be loose.Check the GP and Inj connectors at the valve cover gasket for melting.Check the heater in your fuel bowl it maybe getting ready to short out.Good luck
