I have a 99 F-250 4x4 superduty with a 7.3 liter deisel it has 140K miles and I am the original owner. My problem is after my truck has been sitting for more than 8 Hrs or so I have to crank it for a while before it will start then it will usually start for a few seconds then shut off. It is as if it is out of fuel, Is there a check valve that can be leaking or possibly a bad fuel pump. Thanks for any help! Nick

Check the oil level in the high pressure pump reservoir, it sounds lilke you are having a drainback issue.

For reference you would check the cold oil level at the port this hose is screwed into. Don't remember off hand what size plug it is.

thanks

I appreciate all the help, how do I Check the oil level in the high pressure pump reservoir, and how do I fix it if it is draining back? I am going to try and work my tranny issue today. I am going to drop the pan and valve body I will let you know how it goes. I work Mids in the Air Force so it will be later on this afternoon before I can start on it. I am stationed in N.C. Thanks again all Nick

P.S. as far as the O-rings the truck has not sat at all and there is no smoke on start up.
