Everything DP said.

Increasing the FPR pressure to 70 psi is good for the injectors, reduces "Cackle". Throttle responce is better, you [might] see a bit off MPG gain... due to that

CLEAN the filter bowl, follow the shimming wiki... any questions.. Post'm up.

The pictures aren't loading for the 99-03 shimming of the FPR. Is it the same as the 94-97 pics? The plug I removed yesterday was different than the one seen in the 94-97 pics (on the TikiWiki). Does anyone have pics for the 99-03 7.3L?

The Pics won't come up anymore, ever.

Just follow the narrative.. yul be okay. The FPR assembly is on the right side of the filter bowl.. with a fuel line coming out of it.

Go easy as you back out (equally) the torx screws.. and put them back in (equally). (Tighter is Not better ?)

Go to dieselorings.com Bob has a billet fpr housing set he sells with new springs, color coded for different pressure settings one might want...The kit comes with very complete detailed instructions which are also available on the website individually..

I highly recomment the billit housing. Have helped 4 different guys, all very competent "shade tree" mechanics with shimming the FPR. 3 of the 4 housings broke and they had to spend the same amount at the sealer for the stock one...

But either way the o ring website has instructions for r&r of the fpr housing.

good luck!

Yeah, that looks nice. How do you know if the pressure is "just right"? I'd be tempted to start with the black 67-70 psi spring...or is that not advisable for some reason? I guess the proper way is to use a gauge...

Good point. i think I'd still wana know what the OEM pressure Was.. AND what the New pressure, in fact, IS.

A Gauge would tell us that. No assuming ?
