-mad Boy, after my transmission blew up I should of guessed I would have more problems! Now my truck keeps on stalling and dieing in horrible places. I drain the fuel filter and it starts really hard then runs ok. I am not sure if the fuel pump is going or fuel regulator or what. All I know is my wife is hopping mad because it has died while she is in traffic. I don't blame her. Any ideas? I may have to take it into the shop. I am a back-door mechanic so I am not going to go there. Welder/Machinist by trade. 2001 F-250 7.3 4x4.:rant

I'd betcha, by what you describe, the CPS (Cam Position Sensor) is going south on ya.

$25.00 dollar part, 30 minute fix. You can do yourself.

Yes, I am wondering

it has gone out already once. Didn't start at all replaced it at shop still under warranty ran great for 43,000 miles then this garbage. I am not sure seems like a fuel issue; runs fine for awhile then sputters an dies. Drain the fuel filter starts rough then after awhile it runs fine maybe a week or so then the same routine all over. Bad fuel? I put Stanodyne in, doesn't seem to help much.

Well.. could be fuel but these CPSs are known to crap out, even when fairly new. Many go bad in less than 43K. Ford has a new one these dayz.. it's Grey in color.. supposed to be an upgraded one.

For 25 bucks ? It might be a place to start....:dunno

Thanks for the info: could give it a try. Cheaper to replace than the Ford Shop sticking it to me.

I'd buzz it by the dealer and have them check for the CPS recall.

Replace it yourself, and they're not re-imbursing.

If the dealer replaces it, cool.

If they say it's ok, walk over to the parts room and buy one anyway. Should take you all of about ten minutes to replace it.

Update replaced CPS @ dealer under recall but oil level extremely low; eight quarts which effects running of vehicle which you already know. But where is the oil going? No leaks and not going into fuel and exhaust? Sportsnutim:dunno

Gave that some thought when you posted it.

Did the Dealer say anything about where it might be going ? Any tests by them ?

Not good to make SWAGs with >2 gallons< of oil missing.
