Doesn't early 1999 refer to the trucks that were actually made in 1998?

Production on the 99's began in Feb of 98. It probably should have started in Feb of 97 but Ford had the typical engineering snafu's related to a body/chassis change and the 98 model year was lost. If your truck was produced between 2-98 abd 12-1-98 you have an early 99 model. The week of 12-1 thru 12-8 is when the late 99's rolled out and if your date is post 12-8-98 you have a late 99 model. There were an estimated 150,000 Powerstroke Diesels produced between Feb of 98 and July of 99.

The reason that I was asking is that Txblue made this commint earlier and it made me think march of 1998 or 1999...
Thanks 95_Sroker. My truck is an early 99. It was made in March. So it should have the same power as you indicated in your attachment?

Thanks for clearing that up guys!

I guess the 99+ and 2000 are the same..so then I guess early 99 and 98 are the same....so 99+ does have more power then the early 99...

My source doesnt differentiate between E99 and 99+ in the HP and TQ catagory but, here is what was changed for the 99+ version (post 12-8-98 production dates)

Changes for the 1999.5:

  • Fender badge for the PSD removed, door badge added.
  • Lumbar seat deleted
  • New front-intake "cool-box" air filter box (Older models retrofitted to this style)
  • New down pipe
  • Bed body side molding removed.
  • Passenger side airbag standard across the line
  • Passenger lumbar removed
  • "Superduty" added to the rear tailgate badge for 350
  • Larger turbo
  • Catalytic converter removal
  • New injectors
  • Lower restriction intercooler

So with a larger turbo and new injectors one can speculate that the E99's werent 235 but I do think that the 97's were 225 hp. So I quess we are squabling over less than 10 hp here between the E99 and the 99+.

March of 99 or march of 98? March of 99 is a late 99. March of 98 is an "early" 99 (oif they even made them yet, I can't remeber). I think you have a late 99, not an early.
