Almost seems like it would make sense to throw the tire in the back of the truck until ya hit dry land..:innocent

The back of the truck was stacked higher than the cab with firewood thus leaving no room for the tire. Or in a future case when the camper is on the back of the truck filling the bed to a height of over 11'?

Its a good idea to lower the tire and power-wash the whole mess once a year. I'm doing it to mine this weekend now that the snow is gone and the roads are clear. Also a good time to make sure the spare is aired up properly.

And you newer truck guys don't forget about cleaning out the lowering mechanism. Here is a old thread about a guy that had trouble with his.

Russ, what did you do to secure it so no one steals it? I hate to put it up there but like not having it underneath too.

Yeah, I see your point. Nothing else you can do but lay in the mud / dirt / snow, whatever.
