Nicely done there. Could you gain any depth behind your rear seat if you got rid of the carpeted back wall (or trimmed where your sub box is) and take out the vent in the back wall right behind where your sub box is now? I bet you would gain an easy 1/2 inch, probably more.

What other speaker are you running off the amps? Components? What kind, etc.

ive already cut the carpet behind the sub...ive even removed
the VENT that protrudes thru the rear cab/wall. (there are 2 vents
in the rear cab wall...one on each side)

the TRUCK (except the floor...only cause i need help removing
the seats & carpet) is COVERED w/ HUSH MAT...including the rear
cab wall, doors & roof.

What other speaker are you running off the amps? Components? What kind, etc.

3 pair of KICKER (good lord i cant remember)...theyre 6.75" 2 way seps...
i THINK (its been a few years) they are KS65.2's.

they are mounted in the doors and rear factory location (w/ the tweeters
mounted sep.)

heres a photo of how the rear (most) tweets are mounted.

Looks plenty good to me. A few questions.

Is the Hush Mat worth the cost and effort to install? Wouldn't the floor help the most? Did you do the interior of the door panels too?

Are the 6.5's hard to install in the 6x8 openings? Just a bit of cutting and new screw holes?

If I was only going to run 4 (component) speakers, would you recommend the front door and the factory rear pillar, or for all 4 doors and disconnect the rear pillar speakers? I suppose there's not room for the rear door speakers without the kick panel upgrade, is there?

If you want a tighter sound & a quiter truck then I HIGHLY
recommend the HUSH MAT...its easier to apply & 1/2 the price
of dynamat.

I will do the floor...eventually...just need the extra hands
(and time)...interestingly enough i discovered how well it worked
on the doors...Id done the FRONT doors & didnt have time to do
the rear doors...had to make a run from virginia to houston...w/
the rear doors "stock"...the entire ride i kept thinking a window
was down in the back !

the 6.5's require some trim work...and a mounting plate...

regarding my rear doors...ive seen better installs ('course i didnt
see 'em til i'd already done mine)...but anything in the rear doors
is gonna be CUSTOM...i have wondered why a set of excursion
door panels wouldnt work (excursions have rear door speakers).

if i were gonna run 4 (pair) of speakers...id run 'em in the rear doors
and front doors....originally this is where i was running mine...only
later did i add the 3rd pair (in the rear factory location).

the rear factory location is for CRAP...it provides some "FILL" but
thats about it...its blocked by the seat mostly...

the only reason i installed a 3rd pair there is cause i had the
amp channel to spare.

if youre gonna install in the rear (crewcab) factory
location...mount the tweeter up high...where you can aim
it some (and keep it from being blocked).

opps also forgot...if you REALLY wanna quite your truck down....run some
poly tubing inside the door weather strip...the doors will seal tighter
and REALLY block the wind/noise !

Thanks! Yeah, I knew about the poly trick, I've been meaning to do it on my dad's F150 most, but just haven't gotten around to it. Mine could use it to.

How much would you say it costs to Hush Mat a crew cab?

man i couldnt even begin to estimate what it would cost to
put hushmat on the truck...i do recall being SHOCKED at the number
of sheets i used....luckily the local retailer was cutting me a break.

im sure i used at LEAST 20 LARGE SHEETS of the stuff...
ive got a pack of 20 (box) in the garage...i think its got about
10 sheets in it...and i bet that wont be enough to do the floor
of the truck !
