There's a big new overpass going in 15 miles from me in Wausau, drove thru today, and noticed a problem with a pillar they have been building most of the winter...

Here you can see one end of the rest of the bridge...

I figure it probably was in the wrong place, it had to be a bad day for the surveyors that laid it out!

could have been faulty concrete. we have a new bridge going up over a river not too far from me and 1/3 of it had to be destroyed cuz crete was crap...

I agree. They have to take several samples in cylinders for testing at later dates. The concrete is fully cured IIRC in 28 days. If they called for 5000psi concrete and it doesn't pass later the structure has to come down. Also air ing the crete has something to do with it passing.


Bad layout is also possible. Wouldn't you feel like a DA.

i have allways heard that the concrete used to build the hoover dam, is still curing to this very day.
