Ok, im planning on doing some mods to my truck. just looking for advise. i have a shop near by, river city diesel. i was wanting to buy their egr delete kit. and prob get their sct xcal 3 tuner. im at 95*** miles. so im just trying to make truck reliable. i figured if i could get rid of the egr system, i would be in alot better shape. what do you guys think of this idea?

I can't hurt. specially if you are about out of warrenty. I don't know much about the river city delete kit. some of the guys are running it i think. or i least the guys on the org are. I would buy the sct from innovative and get erics tunes. from what I hear they are the smoothest and best tunes available. I don't hink you can go wrong with what you are thinking... just make sure you get the necessary things too.. GAUGES are a must! you would be surprised at how fast those temps rise. even stock trucks can burn stuff up if people aren't careful with them. a bigger downpipe will also help... mods are endless! lol good luck with the truck

nevermind.. just saw you have gauges and exhaust so you are already way ahead of the game!

aren't you the one that recently dechromed you truck and sorta blacked it out and have "diesel" wheels?

yeah. i need to update my pictures. im not gonna run the crap outa it, only reason i want chip is to make truck run good with the egr delete mainly. i would think getting rid of the egr system would cool down intake.. and reduce soot in the engine, that sound right? im not real familar with the system, but i do know i wont have to worry about cooler going out and causing me other problems witht the engine. ive heard good things about this kit, and realized they were only 30 mins away from home. just tinted my side windows 20percent

yeah that is a good looking rig! this is what eric from innovative told me about the full egr delete....

"Yes, the Full EGR Bypass kit is the way to go. It removes the EGR Cooler(coolant flow) from the EGR and blocks the exhaust gasses from getting to the EGR at all. Turning it off in the tune only stops the gasses at the valve. You still have hot coolant and hot gasses getting to the valve. The EGR Cooler is a major failure point on the high power trucks, so we just remove it. The truck runs so much better and it’s pretty simple to install."

so you lower egts and get better flow in the process.. you need a tune to keep it from throwing a code and to make things run smooth.... if your not looking for much power and want a good reliable daily driver with a smooth shifting tranny.. then contact eric and tell him that is what ya want... I would recomend his aggressive street or street tune if you don't want much power.. the aggressive street will blow a little smoke and give you good throttle response and good highway passing ability without throwing you to the seat and burning up the tires.. the street will see little if any smoke and gives you a little better throttle response and smooth shifts... eric tunes the motor and the tranny to work together.... you won't be disappointed..

I definitly would dothe egr delet and like they said get the whole kit..may cost a little more but its worth it...I know on mine I chose to go ahead and do the gaskets as well since i already was going to have a lot of things taken off anyways ...

thanks guys. helpful info. i have 6spd so ill need to upgrade clutch at some point. im planning on using river citys kit, which is a full delete, and i dont need to remove intake to put it on, which is a plus. im planning on doing it myself too. also do you guys know if doing this egr kit will help heads from warping? or is this somthing with presure from turbo. i really dont want to blow a gasket, or warp the heads. but when pulling i always keep boost around 15 pounds so im sure driving truck like this helps. its a pretty pamperd truck
