over past few months i noticed my truck smoking mainly when i take off in 1st gear... if i try to take off fast.. seems like the turbo is sticking.. cuz if its at dead stop.. the turbo wont take off that fast. but if turbo is moving lil bit it will take off quick and boost up quick... just seems to stick when you dont preboost or whatever u want to call it, and truck smokes too if im on it pretty hard.. light brown.. sometimes some black puffs... anything to worry about? im gonna run few takes and use motorcraft fuel additive.. i got the new stuff, and maybe drive it lil harder to try and fix the sticking? thanks guys, any help or ideas are appreciated

+1 on giving her hell to clean out the turbo.
The puff of black smoke when you get on it is perfectly 100% normal behavior for a diesel. Some people actually work hard to make their trucks do that.

ok, ill drive lil harder.. it runs too good for their to be a prob.. but i did notice slight oil leak.. and looks to be coming from drivers side head... should i be afraid to take to dealer.. and have head gasket swapped out? more trouble then good? or are their new improved gaskets out?

Hey Nascar,
I would think your leak would be from your valve cover or maybe glow plug harness and not your head gaskets. It would not be running too good if it was your head gaskets blown out!
Just my 2 cents worth!

thanks, truck starts idles and runs smooth and pulls hard... so that would be good, i was kinda worried if they would have to remove cab to fix it... since i have all my gauges hooked up.. im sure somthing would go back together right.. but a valve cover could be fixed without removal of cab right?

hey pretty much have the same truck besides the 250 350 diff but just drive the thing they are meant to be pushed i have over 80k and not a problem yet knock on wood but i also drive it and pull with it so it gets worked and stays clean and i use diesel services fuel additive every fill up to keep it clean and add lubrication that the ulsd does not have compared to teh good stuff back in the day so run some of that and change your fuel filter soon after as it will give it a good colon cleanin
