just bought a 05 350 and am new to the 6.0. When i first start it it smells kinda rich and seems to clear up after a couple minutes. Temps here ranging 35-45 degrees. after letting it warm up (trans temp half way and engine temp just at the C mark) i see a whiteish smoke from the tail pipe until the engine temp reachs the half way mark. normal or not letting it warm up enough? and the other question, today was quite rainy and noticed steam like on the hood (just barely) just right of center. all gauages were normal temp. outside temp was around 45 and like i said rainy. im new to this and is probably just normal daily accurance to yall but just wanna see if its normal or not. appreciate the help

Sounds perfectly Normal to me.

If yer new to a Diesel, when these things are cold and you fire'm up ? until you get the heads, block and manafolds up to near Op temps.. they stink of raw Diesel. And... until they get up to near Op temp, they shoot steam/vapor out the T-pipe.. just like a gasser would, given the temp & humidity and so on.

The vapor you see on the hood ?? Same, Same about Temp, humidity Diff between the Warm engine area, under the hood temps.. and the outside on top of the hood temps. Temperature Differential. My 2K does it, so does the wifes Windstar.

Sounds perfectly Normal to me.
