It is time for my license plate renewal and I was required to take my truck into a smog test station to get it certified for the DMV. I took it in and they romped on the throttle three times, in quick succession, and looked for smoke. They did it again and then looked at all of the smog stuff like the ERG valve, the CAT, intake filter system and related junk. No quick job, it took about 30 minutes to get certified. I passed. My truck is truly stock and you know why.

Florida used to screw us with diesel emission tests, pay 10 bucks they would then bypass the idle checks and give you a receipt
i hated it every year
then it was repealed....our oil burners were found to be less polluting than the gas cars and trucks

good to see you got an "A"

WOW $10.00.

It cost about $60.00 for a smog test out here in California

and that is to just romp on the peddle and look for smoke. No emissions test conducted.

Sure glad I left CA when I got out of the Navy, or I could be paying $73 and letting them try to tear up my truck. That's not bad money for 30 min of walking around your truck. Where can I get a job that pays $150.00 per hour?

It is not that gravy of a job. The smog tech had some very expensive scanning equipment that he hooked up to the truck to make sure no codes were there that might effect the smog certificate. There is a lot more going on than walking around the truck.
