slave cylinder again!!!!!

about 2 months ago my slave cylinder went out so i went to oriely's and bought a new one. i haven't felt any problems with the clutch petal until last night when the clutch petal just had no pressure and wouldn't come off the floor. so i checked and it was the slave cylinder. what would cause the slave cylinder to go out again??? i'm kinda confused b/c that is a brand new one and it already broke too. any ideas are greatly appreciated

I went though 3 of them years ago. The older ones had a smaller diameter bore in them and they were also prone to cracking in the area where the hydraulic line enetrs the cylinder. I ended up replacing the master/line/slave with the larger diameter bore (updated version). No problems since then. You are running the heat shield sock on the slave, correct? Cheers!

a heat shield sock??? no i'm not running any shield by the slave, but it seems to be just shooting fluid out of a tiny pinhole. it was in the same place as it was leaking last time so could it just be a cheap slave or do i need to change everything out and upgrade? where can i find the upgraded slave cylinder? thanks!!!

Does the line coming out of the master come out of the very end of the cylinder and then use a 90 degree fitting to head downward to the slave, or does it head straight downward out of the master to the slave? If it is the latter, you have the smaller bore (older style) system. I would change it all out (master/line/slave) if that's what you have. All my new slaves have come with a new "sock". Cheers!

the line comes out of the end of the clutch master and uses a 90* fitting to go down to the slave. so does that mean that i already have the upgraded parts? thanks a lot

Yes, you already have the larger bore system. If you can't find a heat shield sock, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you an old one of mine. Cheers!

ok thanks a bunch. but yesterday i put in a new slave and drove about 1 mile or less and the slave and the metal clip fell off the tranny and busted so now i have to go back and buy another one. it wasn't so bad that i got the other one on warranty, but this time i'm surely gonna have to pay for it. it wasn't even fixed for 10 minutes and 5 of that was idling since the truck hasn't been started in a week.
