2. How the hell can do i figure out which dana rear end i have because i wanna change my fluids out to good syn. but dunno which dana it is.

3. Where do i find my paint code?

doug,

#3 i can answer, open your driver's door and look down below the door seal and there will be a sticker that has a whole lot of "numbers" related to your truck. the paint code will be at the bottom of that sticker. should be 2 letters i believe.

You will also find the Axel Code there. Post what the code is and we can look it up for you. I have been buying Rotella T syn oil for my 6.0 for years now at Wally World. I am running 5-40 weight oil and I buy my filters there also.

just a note on the paint code - if you are getting the little touch up bottle from the dealer, test it out before putting it on your truck. I bought one by the code on my door and it does not match. Not even close. It's on there now so too late but Im not happy with it.

Truck

I found the paint codes tonite. The ext pnt is B4. The second code next to b4 is AQ which is the arizona beige. Thats the lower portion of the king ranch paint. The upper portion is the B4 which is not listed as a code in duplicolors website nor in the store. The colors they have that look close are Matador Red, Toreador Red, and dark toreador red. They are all metallics as well so that dont make it any easier. That ones really got me buffled. Heres how the plate reads on the door for the other stuff.

WB-156 BRK-4 Int Tr-RH TP/PS-K Axle-D1 TR-B SPR-US

I looked in my book that came with truck for axle code and there is no D1. There is a D only that falls under electric transmissions for automatic 5spd overdrive 5r44e.

Im gonna do some more diggin online but im itchin to change out gear oils and dont want to put something in the rear without knowing if its limited slip, or locking and theres a difference in gear oils for the front too i think according to book. Thanks guys

axle

thats about the only thing i have been able to figure out so far. I crawled under truck tonite and checked out front axle. It has a 3:73 tag on it and a dana stamp in the pan but no other dana markings to tell me which one it is. I did find a ulgy valve cover leak on the drivers side back cyl. :-( that sucks so bad with only 30k miles on the truck. Im the second owner so i dont think the fact. warranty will fix this. I think it dosent transfer.

sure the warranty transfers. you shouldn't have any problem with that one.

If you want to run a good syn. oil, I'd go w/ either Royal Purple or Mobil1 Turbo Diesel formula. Haven't tried the Mobil1 yet, but I love Royal Purple. Can get both @ O'Reilly's

Okey got the oil changed last night. 4 gallons of 5w40 rotella syn. beats the heck out of 15qts of amsoil. On a side note, when i pulled the old nasty filter out whomever put it in left the big ole oring inside of it that is for the cap and it was just in there chillin. LMAO

Found out the paintcode is chestnut brown. I found it listed under a 2004 f-240 super duty. Tranny is a 5R100. Dealership told me it only had 1 tranny filter though :-I im gonna have to do some more research on that.

Thanks for all the help though guys, now im just left with figuring out what the front axle is.
