Signs and symptoms of a bad vac pump

Ok, i've also had the brake light come on at times and will fade out, its totally random. I have not noticed any change in braking performance but when the brake light is on there is no cruise control. Even when on the highway and the cruise is set, if the light comes on it will stop the cruise control. I understand that the brake light will come on under low vacuum pressure, but the fluid levels are full and the e-brake is up all the way. So anhyways i did the front brakes last night new rotors, pads, bearing and 4x4 u-joints. what a pain in tha ass, anyways when i started the truck up, now the brake light is off/on but the abs light is on constantly. I didn't touch anything on the rear abs. what gives, i'm going to try and finds the rabsII connector and get a code. i'm half tempted to just get a new vac pump before i lose it all together. fun. huh. thanks for the input

Just before my vacuum pump failed I would hear a "chirp chirp" sound as I shut off the truck.

it sounds like mine is making a noise while running like air escaping, puffing out almost. doesn't appear to be leaking though

It is probably going out.

But the ABS light has me kinda confused.....

Prolly time to change the pump.If the brake pedal gets hard that would be a sure sign.I bought one from Powerstroke.com but I forget how much it was.Where you from,Im near Cortland.

well, the abs light has gone out, and so far hasn't come back on. i went ahead and ordered a new pump, so i hope this fixes the problem.

Well, the new pump didn't make any difference. its much harder to turn that the stocker with 100k so i guess it wasn't a complete waste of time and money. should last. anyways, the damn light is off/on again (park brake) the abs light has not come back on since that one day following the brake job. any suggestions appreciated, this light is driving me nuts. thanks for the help.

I just got a piece of black electrical tape and covered it up enough so it wouldn't drive me so krazy
I can just see enough of it so I know its there, but I'm not crazy now, am I

Southeast of Cleveland,Make sure that your E-brake is all the way up.Check the switches on the pedals.
