Had my water pump replaced because it was leaking and finally got that taken care of.

Now, i dont know if this is a coincidence or not (my guess is that it is) but whenever I take off, and get it revved up to around 2500 rpm or above (basically when things are getting wound up) i feel a shudder. The motor does not miss a beat and it feels really strong.

The best way i can describe it, is that it feels like axle wrap. I changed the fluid in the rear end a little over a year ago, and have the correct fluid in there (royal purple synthetic) and have had no issues. I do have a pinion seal leak, but its not bad. I've checked the fluid a few times and its been fine.

Any ideas?:dunno

almost positive thats not the case...i just flushed and changed the fluid approx. 5k miles ago, and have it filled back up to spec.

Any other thoughts? Could it be something in the driveline besides the trans like a carrier bearing, u-joints etc?

could be a u-joint, but knowing your history..
you won't quit looking at it unless you've replaced it and then disassembled and reassembled it three times to make sure you did it "right" because the symptom is still there..

how many miles on it now?

lol...you know me too well JL!

I think theres a possibility it could be a u-joint, becuase if you remember my last thread on getting the driveshaft reattached to the rearend and the trouble I had with the little rollers popping off...maybe its toast.

I just rolled over 155k.

How can I test the u-joints to see if they are bad?

U-joints typically will show a bleed off of goo when bad as well as there may be a slight amount of play in the joint.

If you had problems with the u-joint caps popping off and loosing the needle bearings then at a minimum replace at least that one, as it is likely you lost a couple needle bearings.

well everything that popped off, i put back on. however, i dont know if its as tight as it used to be? it seemed to be, but i really have no way of knowing.

If I was having transmission issues, shouldnt i be noticing other signs?
