serial number location

I need the serial number off my motor. 12/7/98 is cutoff for which injectors.
ad vs ab. My truck is 12/98. I called the dealer and they said its old and ford wont go back over 10 years.

its engraved in on the block on the boss by the oil filter mount.

I think it is also on the driver side valve cover sticker. Possibly not as accurate but easier to see.
