some how get your HPOP to fail...have this TSB performed

FDDTS - HPOP Connector Bracket

and make sure they use THIS NEW one piece connector

FDDTS - New One-Piece High Pressure Oil Connector

install a turbo back MBRP exhaust and cat-delete (aka test pipe)
from Diesel Performance Parts - Home (itll lower your egt's)

also if your gonna tow (or make any performance mods) make sure you
have an egt gauge AND a legit tranny gauge and heres the reason WHY --> ITP Diesel, L.L.C.

installing a coolant by-pass filter would be good insurance policy...

learn where your EGT valve is...and keep a watch on your
ball joints & swaybar bushings... 6.0L Bible Table of Contents

consider purchasing AutoEnginuity for code scanning, testing and
problem diagnoses
OK bushpilot, I ordered the MBRP exhaust and muffler delete/test pipe. Also the coolant by-pass filter. I guess a muffler shop would be the best place to get the test pipe installed?
How about the coolant by-pass filter - did you install it yourself? If so how difficult is it? Since my truck is a little over two years old would you recommend changing the coolant?Guages will be next.

everything i read about the trip to alaska is to take two spare tires for the rv and two for the truck
plus a couple extra fuel filters

the mbrp exhaust is worth the exspense
lower egts, and gained mileage by a few

all these items are DIY installs...and its doubtful youll see any
mpg improvement from any of these mods.

ford claims the gold coolant is good for 100k miles....im not
sure id trust anything that long....youll loose a little
when you cut the hoses to splice in the coolant by-pass filter.

Only place ive been able to find Gold coolant is @ Autozone...
Zerex G-05 is the stuff to use.

G-05® Antifreeze/ Coolant

youll also wanna keep an eye on the lower radiator hose...run your
hand all over it, make sure its not getting rubbed by the steering
arm(s)...in earlier model years they put a nylon/web sox over the hose
TRYING to reduce the friction...it didnt work on my truck & i wound
up w/ a rub/gash in the hose..you might not have the problem...
but its worth checking and keeping an eye on.

I cut the old hose and wrapped it around the new/replacement for
a little added protection.

DITTO ON THE LOCKS!!!

Welcome to SSD.com King Ranch. Glad to have you here and there is a lot of us here that pull Fifth Wheels.
Before you hit the road with your trailer(34' 11,780 lb Cardinal travel trailer) be sure to pack the wheel bearing and check out all of the brakes. Check the spring hangers and make sure all wiring is up where things on the road won't be hitting and catching on any of them.
When on the road keep a lock on your fifth wheel latch, to keep someone from just walking by and tripping it.
Good luck, sounds like a trip of a life time.

I've heard of some AWFUL horror stories about "knuckle-heads" pulling the latches just for the hell of it! Locks are cheap insurance......

I towed a 5th wheel for over 12 years with a 460 gas Ford and it only happen once. If you read closely you will see I am now pulling a travel trailer. Maybe that is why I switched. No really, I like to have full use of my truck bed. It was very limited with the 5th wheel. Thanks for the heads up any way.

Getting closer to ETD for Alaska. I have followed your advise. I have installed the coolant filter and changed coolant (Xerex G05). I also reinstalled the factory air filter system and sold the Airaid CAI. Expensive mistake. I have not installed EGT guage or trans temp guage and will have to make the trip without them. I am also keeping the stock exhaust except for cat delete/test pipe.

I also conviced my dealer to replace the HPOP connector bracket per TSP. I gave them part number 4C3Z-9B246-A to make it easier for them. Here are my envoice notes:

"stand pipes both sides blown o-rings, visual inspection check oil and fuel level and condition KOEO KOEO injector buzz test retrieved DTC P2291. Per pinpoint removed valve covers to air up oil system found stand pipes leaking replaced both sides, reassembled and retest normal. road test normal"

However, I noticed on my invoice they used the following part numbers:
QTY 2 5C3Z-9A332-A
QTY 2 -W302195
QTY 1 6C3Z-6C640-A
QTY 2 6C27-6K786-AA

The part number I gave them is not listed. Can you shed some light on this mumbo jumbo?
I suspect I got the same parts they replaced.
