A couple of months ago my 06 F-250 started running rough when cold. once it was up to operating temp it would be fine. the problem was variable for a while. the check engine light came on a couple of days ago and it had noticeably less power under accel. any suggestions?

First off, you need to find out what codes are in the PCM. That will tell you or your mechanic what is going on. Only guessing with out the codes. Auto Zone can't read our trucks codes.

Have have 96 that does the same thing. Had our Ford certified diesel mechanic hook the computer up to it and it was something like bad compresser or 1-2 injectors in rough shape. Once it warmed up, everything sealed up. Never had the check engine light though. You may have something similar going on like this, but somewhere else setting off a sensor to through the code.

thanks for the info. checked out dieselstop.com after viewing a link with fault codes listed there and some folks are having the same thing happen. seems to be the consensus there that it is the ficm and there is a recall on some vin #s for the 6.0.

Can auto zone pull the codes and i can cross ref them with the info on other site? or doe stheir code reader not work weith our trucks?

I HIGHLY doubt their code readers could pull something like that. It would more than likely have to be a dealership or go to a shop that has a Snap-On, most transmission shops have them. But, keep in mind that my truck is a 96 with 575,000 miles on it. So your problem could be totally different. But I'd still do the computer diagnostic.

I just had my FICM replaced and it read all injectors low. Auto Zone can't pull our codes.
