you could be sucking air into the fuel lines somewhere. possibly from the tank? i know its a common problem on the 99+, but someone else will chime in who knows more. good luck to you man!:thumbs

CPS was changed a few months ago. I dont think it would be the air in the fuel by the tank with it stopping after revving it up.

I noticed the other day after I drove it for about an hour to my parents it wouldn't do this for a while. This is another system I guess that might help. I was thinking about something else also. I have started using 2qts of Lucas Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer and was wondering if that could possibly be causing something. Or if someone has heard of this having the same affect.

In Ford Powerstrokes we suggest one quart of Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer per oil change.

That's from the Lucas website. Maybe two quarts is too much? I don't know, just tossing it out there.

I use Delo 400. Been running it for over 150,000 now. Thats what the guy used in it before me for the other 210,000.

I was told by a guy at Lucas to use 2 qts. Well next time I think I will only use one or none to see if that helps.

Any other input about what might be causing this? Thanks

This engine has 360,000 on it?

Yeah, take the Lucas out of the equation completely. Ive got no bones with Lucas, but I never have been an additive guy. Get rid of the additive and see if the problem goes away. If this engine truly does have 360K on it, what maintenance has been done; ie; injectors, HPOP, IPR rebuild etc etc...

Ok, I just rolled over 365k today. i have not done any injector or hpop work on it. I replaced the IPR a weekend or two ago now. oil change every 3500to4k miles. Lift pump has been replaced once. Starter once, alternator once, and a/c heat exchanger once. That is all that has been done to the engine while I have owned it that I remember. I am thinking the that problem may be in the additive in the cold temps that have started here. not sure. But next oil change in about 1500miles will be strait Delo400. Thanks for all the info guys.
