I have the 7.3 (2002 F350) and have tried the MC 15w40/ Rotella 15w40/ and during my last oil change about 3500 miles ago I tried the Delo 15w40. I can't explain it, but my truck seems to like the Delo the best. It runs a little smoother/quieter at start up and less useage so far between changes. I have also continued to use the MC oil filter hard to beat for $10.00 at WM.

no. our 7.3 takes the 1999 mc filter that is only $10. your 6.0 filter is about $19.

yet another great reason the 7.3 rules :sly

Hi guys and gals!
I'm new here and new owner to my 2000 E350 7.3L.
I bought it used about a month ago and the next day I had Rotella in it, with all the other fluids changed.
I am told over and over by the local Diesel guys that Rotella is the best, I knew it was good. But always looking for better.
The E35O I bought will be used everything. In the past month I have logged 4000 miles to the 756,000 miles which it came with when I bought it. yes that's right 760,000 miles on it. Orginal motor, Org trans replaced at 600,000 miles and she runs great. Does everything perfect!

So...

Currently I have 4000 miles on the Rotella oil and the E350 doesn't burn or leak a drop. When should I be looking to change the oil, it's not very dirty- still gold in color just a little darker. I keep in touch with the first owner who logged all the miles and he changed the oil at 7500 hard miles and 10,000 easy miles. Does that seem right?

thanks and I hope to learn a bunch from you guys and gals.

I realize this is a motor oil thread but if running a 7.3 quieter is the criteria just blend a good percentage of biodiesel to your fuel tank. Since I only run Delo 15W40 I have no other oil to compare its quietness to, but quietness was never a factor in choosing a particular oil in the first place...UOAs are.

Don't want to start a fight but.... since I started using amsoil in my truck (6.0) now it does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, gets 52 mpg, women can't keep their hands off me, my dog stopped biting the mailman, my kids are honor students, and I got a promotion at work! Lets see Rotella do that!
