My 99 350 4x4 is going thru pads very quickly on the right rear. They were at about 10% today. The left rear were 50%+.
Now there's a shield-like cover on the front side of the left rear brakes that appear to do a good job of keeping these brakes somewhat clean. The L/R brakes are in much better shape than the right rear, which does not have a shield.
Comments ? Thanks.

Brakes

The sheild on the drivers side is there to prevent debris from bouncing into the caliper and other form of road grim, salt etc. you can notice the passenger side the caliper faces the rear and there is no shield. If your tearing through one side your rotor is probably hanging up and chewing the pads prematurely, remove it and see if it will clapse, if not there you go. change it and keep trucking. Hope this helps.

I have to agree
It's either got a caliper sticking, or a flex hose that's 'check valved' internally keeping fluid pressure on that side..

I had some problems with the right rear a couple summers ago. It was dragging pretty bad.

I replaced the caliper. The rotor was awful fugly, so it got replaced. The pads were all but gone too.

Since I'm a believer of doing brakes & calipers in pairs, I did the left rear side too.
