i see a bunch of engine stands on craigslist quite often. thats in the CT though, wont help you much. try ebay. just make sure its a substantial stand, some of the cheapy ones arent good for anything heavier than a chevy 350.

let us know what you find! any plans for mods while its all apart?????

rebuild

dont know of any mods to do, i think the bottom end of the engine should be plent stout enough in stock form for what i am gonna do with it. I would like to gut the ebpv whle the turbo is off and take that air intake heater off, but other than that it will be done stock i think.

opened it up

there is one cylinder that has been gouged by a broke piston ring. It wore a nasty groove in the cylinder wall, hopefully it can be machined out with less than .030 over other wise i might be lookin for a short block. the rest of the bores were ok other than some slight ware i could still see the cross hatch pattern on most of the cylinders. all the barings still looked new even with 210000 miles on em. the valves in the head all seal good and look fine too, so it looks like all that smoke was just a broken ring, too bad i was pointed in the direction of injectors first hell i spent over 1000 dollars replacing the injectors only to find out that wasnt my poblem guess i should have done a compresion check sooner.
