AS far as regular maintenance goes on the PSD what is there to look for. For instance when do you usually have to replace glow plugs or do you? Anything that i should know about having to replace as i look for a used PSD with around 60,000 or so miles. Thanks for the help!:dunno

Best thing to do is to tell us what year you are looking at - lot easier to narrow things down. As a general rule though - taking the VIN number to a Ford dealer and having them run an Oasis report is always a smart move.

What's an Oasis report?

An Oasis Report is Ford's own network of shops that report through a computer system. That system tracks all of the work performed by Ford on a given truck. Take your VIN number down to your local Ford dealer and ask them to run an Oasis report on the VIN number. It will show all of the work that has been done by any Ford Dealer.

i am looking at 02 and 03.

Sorry for the delay here – had my 29th wedding anniversary and had to spend time away from the ole computer.

So anyway – 02 models. Here you’re looking at a 7.3 – good long run on this motor. Items to note would be the CPS (carry a spare) and possible oil leak around the turbo pedestal. Trannies were weak in my opinion, so have that looked at. I went through 3 of them in two years – stock. Glow plugs, injectors and such are not regular maint – so don’t be concerned unless they fail.
03 models – you are either looking at a late 7.3 or a new 6.0. 6.0 you should make sure that all the recalls have been done (Oasis report). Check for oil leaks around the injectors and rear of the motor.

Good luck with it.
