The service engine light lit up when pulling our new 6,000 lb trailer. We were only about 200 miles from home, so found a park, spent the night and drove back the next day.
Took it to the dealer who installed a rebuilt turbo. Truck is a 2005 F250 6.0. We picked it up last night, drove it for about 30 miles and didn't notice much difference in performance.
While on the road I didn't have any problems with lack of power going to the campground or driving home. But the mileage sure sucks. I was hoping to get 13 or 14 and we got just under 11. Seems on the low side for a travel trailer that only weighs 6,000. The altitude where we spent the night is over 5,600 feet so maybe that effected the mileage.
Does anyone know if a bad turbo will effect fuel economy? I hope so. $.50 a mile takes the fun out of traveling.
Thanks
