Hey,

What kind of remote start systems do you guys have? Do they work well? Im thinking about getting a viper remote start for the winter.

Cheers

Viper has been mentioned here a lot, and it seems to be a good system. I don't have or need one.

I have a 2way viper alarm with remote start. Was about $200 on ebay. Its great in the winter, when I remember to set the defrost, also alot of fun when someone is walking by the truck.

I have a viper, it has worked flawlessly for over two years
it has a remote start that is set to run 30 mins
and you can program it to run for 30, shut down then restart in an hour if you want ??
the turbo cool down is set at 3 mins
it has a run without key function i like alot, especaially when running into a store real quick or at a rest area keeps the puppy cool
do a search for directed electronics, man they make a boat load of car alram and start stuff, gps trackers etc.

i like the cool down timer / run w/out a key feature....can get the mail....
w/out shutting the truck off...or let the truck idle down for a min. SAFELY
and SECURE w/ the alarm SET !

Why is the viper so much better than the remote startef from Ford? Doesn't the Ford kit use one fob for both starting and locking/unlocking the doors? Does the Ford unit provide cool down too?

I'm am interested in remote start before the snow flies and am not in need of an alarm system.

Curious mind wants to know.

ford doesnt include an ALARM, 2way PAGING (notification if the alarm is
tripped).

LCD fob (on the viper) w/ confirmation that the truck is ACTUALLY started
(or not) and that the truck is running or shut down (cool down timer).

as well as CONFIRMATION that the ALARM was actually SET when you push
the button.

the remote can vibrate, light up and/or BEEP when commands are sent or
RECEIVED (from the truck).

the viper has ONE MILE of range...
