I got mine installed on Saturday. It's my first upgrade to the rig for many reasons.

The good news is that DEI (mfg'r of Viper) makes a full line of OEM security interface modules. Basically, it makes the OEM system a slave of the aftermarket system and let's you take advantage of all the goodies you can get from a system like the Viper 791XV. Most of these modules run about $50.

The even better news is that there is no need for any such interface module on our SD Fords. You may need a timer relay to help give the glow plugs a chance to heat up for a few extra seconds before the remote start tries to crank the engine.

Check out http://www.directed.com/security/viper/viper_responder.asp for some more info.

Next upgrade is for the bed... sprayed in liner and a RollNLock retractable cover. Then the leveling kit, wheels, tires... The continues until I'm broke...

the dei product will have no il leffects on teh trucks advance security group stuff. it works in cocnert with it and like mentioned earlier its all plug and play right to teh ecm/pcm and the other modules. then just tuck it away and off you go, one note of caution...
if you get teh VALET switch and they put it in the drivers glove box... watch what you put in the box, my junk set off my valet and weird stuff going down the highway, then the alarm wouldnt reset.
had to drive back home with no alarm , took the installer about 30 seconds to reset it , now i know the door lock sequence to reset the valet overide.
