I have been wanting to delete my egr system for a while to eliminate the possibly of a egr related head gasket issue. Is a small block off plate all thats needed to eliminate the problem for good? Or is there more to it.

I was also wonder what the ideal egt temp is upon shut down, I have a post turbo egt probe and have been told 400 degrees or less is best but Im not sure.

I have an 06 f350 with an sct performance tune and 4" straight pipe.

any help would be appreciated, thanks

PRE Turbo is the way to measure Exhaust temps. Post will not tell you much, as too much energy is lost to the turbo. 400 or less is good to shut down. And there is a little more to the block off plate than you think. Check with Dieselsite (our sponsor) for more on this. Check black Logo, above, on the left of center.

yeah there is a lil more to it than a block off plate i got mine from bill at dfuser and u have to put a block off plate where the egr went and on the intake and have to run a new tube and other things to do it right and one for the egr cooler thats why i am doing mine because of the egr cooler leak. i was going to do it myself but got to thinking that if i was going to be tearing that much stuff off to get to what i needed to i might as well do studs while i was at it i havent had any problems(knock on wood) but i'd rather do it all once just in case it does decide to blow the heads now hopefully it will all be fixed next week
