pulled rear hub & oil seal
order new seal from ford 2c3z 1177 ab (motorcraft brs116)
oringinal seal p/n was f81z1177ca

anyhow new seal is ~ .2" smaller in i.d. new seal i.d is
2.941" : old seal i.d. is 3.141"

looks like old seal has some type of wear sleeve, but it is wrapped or molded around axle tube flange. I don't think this seal was ever changed before, but it has no identifying marks or numbers. I'll call my ford parts guy tommorrow, but I got this sick feeling he is going to say he provided the correct seal. I don't want to start destoying this wear sleeve or collar until I understand more. Can anyone help? Thanks, FJK

The rear axle seal seperates into to parts on removal. The outside must be driven from the hub..........the inside must be removed from the axle tube.

10/4 on that Tbar; thanks. I jumped on this myself before I saw your reply. Original seal is 2 piece, updated seal is 1 piece. I hope this post helps others down the road. Thanks again, FJK
