A friend and I finally got started on a rear bumper for my truck..it has been 2 years without one.

I forgot my camera when we were building it, but he took some pics with his camera phone. I'l try to get them up later

We wanted something similar to this

but with room to mount a license plate on the back

This is what we came up with...keep in mind it is not finished. we are going to recess the license plate and add tow points and lights

I cut about 10 inches off the bottom of the box and my really expensive flares

the bumper goes out to the edge of the flares and tapers back close to the body at the back

Its a high clearance bumper...my buddy only stopped because he was going to hit my tailpipe

Nice work. That is very similar to the rear bumper I was looking at for the rear end of my Land Rover. One thing the Rover bumper offered was a cut out for the tail pipe to be rerouted through the bumper so it wasn't as exposed to damage on the trail. Seems like a waste to go through the trouble of building a bumper that definitely increases departure angle just to leave the tail pipe there to get caught on everything.

Will it have a drop down trailer hitch? Looks like a lot of work, but you will know what you hav when you are done. Good Luck. Please keep the pictures coming.
