Rear Axle Seal Blown Again!!

Well I got the new seal in. Check the diff. vent and its clear, no blockage...however in my race against beating light last night, I think I installed the seal backwards!! If I remember correctly the "oil side" should face the bearings NOT the differential...For some reason I'm remembering now that I put it in the other way -mad This is really getting old...

youare half right.the side marked "oil side"goes towards the bearing as that is where the oil will be contacting the seal

Thanks, that what I thought....Back to the parts store for another seal, then to the driveway for work in the unbareable heat! :rolleyes:

Not a problem amigo...No worries ;tu ...Yeah you would think so...

I guess thats the problem with working to fast to beat the darkness, you make simple dumb mistakes...Oh well...
