Rear Axle Seal Blown Again!!

Well I got the new seal in. Check the diff. vent and its clear, no blockage...however in my race against beating light last night, I think I installed the seal backwards!! If I remember correctly the "oil side" should face the bearings NOT the differential...For some reason I'm remembering now that I put it in the other way -mad This is really getting old...

Oil Side should be the side in contact with the oil, which would be towards the differential.

youare half right.the side marked "oil side"goes towards the bearing as that is where the oil will be contacting the seal

Thanks, that what I thought....Back to the parts store for another seal, then to the driveway for work in the unbareable heat!

Not a problem amigo...No worries ...Yeah you would think so...

I guess thats the problem with working to fast to beat the darkness, you make simple dumb mistakes...Oh well...
