Hello, Everyone. I don't post much. I don't think I have much to add to the conversations but get a lot of info from this forum. Thanks for that.
I'm thinking about replacing my '13 F250 TD with a '19 F350 TD and now I am looking at Ford's 2019 RV & Trailer Towing Guide. Looking at the page for F350 SRW SD 5th wheel/gooseneck towing, 6.7L TD and 3.55 axle ratio. Under the GCWR column there are only 2 numbers with weights under the column to the right headed '4X4 160"WB' (the truck I am interested in). GCWR 21,600 (footnote 'optional 10K # GVWR pkg') indicates a trailer weight of 13.6K (no footnotes). Further down GCWR 28.6K (no footnotes) has a corresponding trailer weight of 20.6K with footnotes of 17" tires and 'gooseneck tow rating shown. 5th Wheel tow rating limited to 5th wheel hitch rating of 18K'.
The whole chart is 5th wheel/gooseneck! How do you get from 21.6 GCWR and 13.6 trailer weight to 28.6 and 20.6? What accounts for the difference? What package must I add to get to 28.6 and 20.6? Now that I type them again, those numbers don't even make sense. 20.6# trailer and combined 28.6?
Okay, let me have! What am I missing?
Thanks for struggling through all these numbers.
Jerry
